TurboIRC 7 portability
TurboIRC can run as a portable application. In fact, its mode depends on what you have downloaded.
If you have downloaded the setup-based packs (T7-X86-SETUP.EXE or T7-X64-SETUP.EXE) , and/or if you start TurboIRC with the -port2 command line option, then TurboIRC 7 does the following:
- It puts itself in C:\Program Files\TurboIRC (by default)
- It stores your preferences in C:\Documents and Settings\Your name\Application Data\TurboIRC 7\t7.xml
- It stores global preferences in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\TurboIRC 7\t7.xml
- It stores your files and data to "My Documents"\TurboIRC 7
- It uses Windows Temporary Folder to store temporary data
If you have downloaded the RAR-based packs (t7x86portable.rar or t7x64portable.rar) , and/or if you start TurboIRC with the -port1 command line option, then TurboIRC 7 stores the entire configuration under the directory you will unrar it, under the CFG and UCFG folders.
If you are an administrator that will allow TurboIRC 7 to be used by a few users in your PC, then you should install the setup-based pack. If you are a user that hates applications writing into various folders (like me) , then you are invited to try the portable version. And, with the help of the command line options, you can switch the mode.
